    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Add Ocean Currents To Your Images
Well we have been promising it for sometime and now we are pleased to announce that Ocean Currents are now available to be added to your sea surface temperature and sea colour images. And the good news is that there is no extra cost for subscribers.

Once you have selected the area for your image you can add ocean surface current information simply by clicking on the red Currents On/Off button to the left of the image.. The currents will appear on your image as a series of black arrows. The direction of each arrow indicates the direction the current is running and the length of the arrow indicates its relative strength (i.e knots per hour)

In addition to visualising the currents over your image we added the extra facilty of being able to read the speed and direction of each current arrow. To do this all you need do is hold down the Ctrl and Shift buttons simultaneously on the keyboard and then click on the start of the arrow (the opposite end to the arrow head) with the left mouse button. A small box with details on the current arrow will open up in the top right corner of your image. At the same time the colour of the particular current arrow that you are querying will change to Purple.

The details within the box indicate the speed of the current in knots per hour and the compass direction in which the current is running . Also included is the lat/long of the current reading and the date of the information. Note that the position, current speed and current direction all refer to the position at the start of the arrow where you clicked (i.e the end opposite the arrowhead).

For further information read the 12 November 2009 Newsletter above.

Add Your Favourite Fishing Locations To Your Images
Have you always wanted to know where that temperature gradient on your screen was in relation to well known fishing spots? Or more particularly to your own favourite spots? Well now you can easily plot the locations of those marks over your image with a few simple mouse clicks. And you can see all the information about each mark. Use the marks that we have added or add your own and see them over your image. You can keep your marks private and only visible to you or you can make them public and share them with other users.

For further information read the 10 December 2008 Newsletter above.
