3.1 Selecting Your Data
Once you have selected a dataset, the satellite information will be loaded into the SST Mapper.
From here there are 4 simple steps to get the data you need:
| Step 1: |
Select the area you are planning to fish by drawing a box on the screen using your mouse |
Note: The box you draw will always retain the same proportions so that the SST Mapper can accurately calculate the co-ordinates. If the box you draw is wrong, you can always re-draw it by clicking on the "Delete Box" button. You can then redraw your selected area (see "Other Buttons" below)

| Step 2: |
Zoom in on your Selected Area by clicking the Zoom Into Selected Area button. You will now see the temperature image of your selected area. However, note that the colours will be a subset of the full range displayed in Step 1 |

Fig 8
NOTE: You can repeat this Select and Zoom process as often as necessary to isolate the area of ocean you will be fishing.
Zoom Bar
Alternatively, once you have selected your area and clicked the Zoom Selected Area button, you can use the Zoom Bar across the top to zoom in and out on the current view.
Click the radio buttons to zoom the image in and out.
| Step 3: |
Click the Optimise Colours button (Fig 9). This will give you the full range of colours across the temperature range appearing in the box you have drawn.
|

| Step 4: |
Click the Enhance Image button |
This will provide you with your detailed 3D image of current sea-surface temperature conditions. The warmer areas will be shown as red and higher than the colder areas which will appear bluer and lower (See Fig 10).

NOTE: It is best to wait until you have selected the right area of data before clicking this button, as the enhanced image increases the amount of data in the system and will slow down the zooming process significantly.
3.1.1 Panning (Up, Down, Left, Right)
You can move the area you see on the screen up, down, left or right using the buttons
| Step 1: |
Click on the arrows around the edge of the viewer to move the image in that direction.
|
| Step 2: |
Use the Zoom tools to further isolate the data of interest to you. |

3.2 Viewing Your Data
3.2.1 Checking Temperature/Coordinates
Once you are viewing any of the three types of images, you can check the temperature and coordinates of any point on the map on your screen.
| Step 1: |
Firstly click on the Show/Hide Temperatures button, then hover your cursor over the screen. You will see the temperature at the location you are pointing at displayed in a small box at the tip of your curser (Fig 12). The latitude and longitude of the position of the cursor is also shown along the bottom of the viewing window.
|
NOTE: If the temperature information is not visible, you may have accidentally clicked this button. Click it again to turn it on

3.2.2 Show/Hide Position
If you do not click the Show/Hide Temperature button you can still view the coordinates of the point you are looking at in the bar below the image by clicking on the Show/Hide Position button (see fig 12).
3.2.3 Decimal Degrees On/Off
You can turn the Decimal Degrees on or off using the Decimal Degrees On/Off button. This simply depends on how much detail you need in your positional readings (see fig 12). The default mode is off.
3.3 Other Buttons
3.3.1 Delete Box
This button will delete the box you have drawn on the screen so you can select a different area.

Fig 13
3.3.2 Reset
This button will take you back to the beginning (see fig 13).
NOTE: You will not be charged again. You have paid for access to the system for one or more sessions depending on the type of purchase you made. For a single purchase your session will last 24 hrs during which you can reset and start again as you need to. Multiple access purchasers last 18 hrs.
3.3.3 OOPS/UNDO
This button will undo your last action (see fig 13).
