Help/FAQ About the Technology

14. How is the data served?
The technology behind City2See uses a mix of fast local processing on the user's computer, and a powerful remote image processing engine based on the industry-standard ER Mapper (TM) software.

SeaSurface provides the ability to perform sophisticated image processing, including the ability to process the data to view it in a different way. These processes combine to bring to the user the ability to perform sophisticated image processing without reliance on specialist software or training. The current system requires nothing more than an Internet connection and a standard web browser.

15. Who created the data engine?
The technology behind SeaSurface.com was developed by EarthInsite.com Pty Ltd.

Earthinsite is an Australian company that specialises in making spatial data available at low cost to small business and the wider community. It uses innovative spatial information technology originally developed at the Australian National University.

SeaSurface is one of several data products developed by Earthinsite.

16. Who designed the website?
The SeaSurface website was designed by Avalde. Avalde was responsible for the graphical user interface (GUI) which sits over the top of the Earthinsite engine, and were involved with refining the user interactions for ordering and image selection.
